Patch of Heaven Sanctuary

This past weekend we visited a sweet place that has been on my “to visit” list since last year, and it did not disappoint. Patch of Heaven Sanctuary is a tranquil gem tucked away in Homestead, Florida. One would never guess that such a peaceful spot exist so close to the hubbub of Miami. We could have spent hours just gazing into the koi pond. The approximately 11 acres of forest preserve serves as a place of education, sustainability and preservation. There are several structures originally built by the Matheson family that are still in use. We explored the Patch on our own but on my next visit I plan to do a guided tour. I want to be sure to explore every corner of this unique site.
